The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry candidates to carefully verify their personal information before creating their profiles.
The board said errors made at the profile creation stage, particularly in names and dates of birth, could cause serious complications during the admission process.
JAMB issued the warning in a fresh advisory video released as part of its “JAMB Explained” series and shared on its X handle on Wednesday.
According to the examination body, candidates’ personal details are obtained from the National Identity Management Commission and are not independently created or altered by JAMB.
It urged prospective candidates to carefully cross-check their National Identification Number-linked information before proceeding with registration.
“Before you create your JAMB profile to register for the UTME or Direct Entry, take a moment and carefully check to confirm that your name, date of birth, and any other details linked to the NIN are correct,” the board advised.

JAMB explained that inaccuracies in a candidate’s name or date of birth could not simply be corrected by the board after registration.
It also warned candidates against assuming that obtaining an affidavit would automatically resolve discrepancies in their JAMB records.
The board stressed that candidates’ identity information forms the foundation of their admission records, making accuracy at the beginning of the process crucial.
It therefore advised prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates to resolve any discrepancies in their identity records before creating their JAMB profiles and commencing registration.
