Jigawa Gov Signs ₦75.1b Supplementary Budget, Environmental Protection Bill into Law

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, signed into law the 2025 supplementary budget totaling ₦75.1 billion, alongside the Environmental Protection Bill.

The signing took place at the Government House in Dutse, with the Governor explaining that the supplementary budget became necessary following increased revenue inflows into the state’s coffers.

Of the total amount, ₦58 billion is allocated to state projects, while ₦17.1 billion is earmarked for the 27 local government councils across Jigawa State.

Governor Namadi commended the State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the bill, noting that the supplementary budget will accelerate the delivery of ongoing infrastructure and social development projects.

In addition to the budget, the Environmental Protection Bill is now law.

The legislation is designed to strengthen environmental governance in the state, with provisions for pollution control, waste management, and sustainable development practices.

The Governor emphasized the importance of environmental protection for sustainable development and urged stakeholders to collaborate with the government in safeguarding the environment.

By signing both bills, Governor Namadi reiterated that his administration is reinforcing the foundation for growth and ensuring that resources are directed toward projects that will improve the lives of citizens.

The supplementary budget and Environmental Protection Bill are expected to play pivotal roles in advancing Jigawa State’s development agenda while promoting environmental sustainability.
