Jigawa Woman Arrested for Fatally Scalding Co-Wife with Hot Water

A tragic domestic dispute in Jigawa State has resulted in the death of a 30-year-old woman, Asiyah Amadu, after her co-wife, Rukayyah Amadu, allegedly poured hot water on her during an argument.

The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the 20-year-old suspect in a statement issued on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.

According to the police, the altercation occurred on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area.

During the heated exchange, Rukayyah allegedly doused Asiyah with boiling water, leaving her with severe burns.

“Asiyah was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, but despite efforts to save her life, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025,” the statement read.

Following her death, police arrested Rukayyah and transferred her to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further questioning.

The police spokesperson revealed that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to the act.

However, authorities stated that investigations are still ongoing to fully unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police reassured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served in the matter.
