Joachim Low is set to step down as the head coach of Germany at the end of the 2020 Euro in the summer, the German Football Association has announced.
Low, 61, became the German side manager after he took over from Jürgen Klinsmann in August 2006 and went on to guide the team to World Cup success in 2014, when they memorably defeated hosts Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals.
“I take this step very consciously, full of pride and enormous gratitude, but at the same time continue to be very motivated when it comes to the upcoming European Championship tournament,” said Low.
But the DFB confirmed his contract was supposed to run until the end of the 2022 World Cup.
Low also led the German side to victory in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
