The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has distributed relief materials to households affected by flooding in Rimin Gado/Dawakin Tofa/Tofa Federal Constituency of Kano State.
The exercise, which was carried out in partnership with the Office of the Member representing the constituency, aimed to cushion the effects of the recent disaster on affected families.
In a statement on Tuesday, NEMA Kano Operations Office said the distribution targeted the most impacted communities.
“During the distribution, affected households received essential food supplies including rice, maize, beans, vegetable oil, salt, seasoning cubes, and tomatoes to help ease the immediate hardship caused by the disaster,” the agency stated.
A representative of the House of Representatives commended the swift intervention, noting that the relief materials would bring significant comfort to residents who lost property and farmlands to the floods.

“Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Government, NEMA, and the Hon. Member for the timely assistance. They also prayed for continued protection from future disasters and pledged to cooperate with authorities in disaster risk reduction efforts,” the statement added.
NEMA noted that the exercise was coordinated jointly with SEMA officials and security agencies to ensure transparency and orderliness throughout the process.
The agency said the intervention formed part of the Federal Government’s ongoing support to communities affected by flooding across Kano State.
Similarly, NEMA’s Sokoto Operations Office, in partnership with the Nigeria Red Cross Society, distributed non-food relief materials to displaced households at the Ramin Kura IDP Camp in Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
