The Kaduna State Government has suspended activities planned to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebration in the state.
The suspension, announced on Tuesday, takes immediate effect and affects activities earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 1.
The decision was contained in a public announcement signed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki.
The commissioner said the state government regretted any inconvenience the suspension might cause residents, stakeholders and members of the public.

Maiyaki, however, appreciated the cooperation, understanding and support of residents and other stakeholders following the decision.
The state government had earlier planned a series of activities in Kaduna to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
No further details were provided in the announcement on the reason for the suspension or whether the activities would be rescheduled for another date.
