A report by the Committee of Inquiry on the August 1, 2024, #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano has revealed that at least 10 people were killed, seven sustained critical injuries, and property worth over ₦11 billion was destroyed.
The committee, led by Justice Lawan Wada (retd.), presented its findings to Governor Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday, February 18, during the 25th Kano State Executive Council meeting at Government House.
Receiving the report, Yusuf vowed to fully implement its recommendations and pledged accountability for those responsible for funding and carrying out the violence.
“I have confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the committee members. They were selected based on merit, and I am optimistic that they have done their job without bias,” the governor stated.
He also announced that a white paper would be issued to identify and hold accountable the sponsors and perpetrators of the unrest.
A statement released by his spokesman, Sanusi Tofa, confirmed that the government had given the committee full autonomy throughout its six-month investigation.
