A woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, has given birth to quintuplets at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, with the state government taking responsibility for the medical care of both the mother and the newborns.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Nabilusi Na’isa, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health.
The statement confirmed that Hafsatu delivered five babies—three boys and two girls—shortly before the disclosure.
Both mother and children are currently under specialised medical supervision at the hospital.

Salisu Nufi’u, the father and a tricycle operator, expressed his gratitude to the state government for the support, describing the intervention as timely and crucial.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to improving maternal and infant health across Kano, particularly for vulnerable residents.
“We will continue to support the general public, particularly the less privileged, to ensure they have access to quality healthcare services,” the statement read.
Quintuplets, defined as five babies born in a single pregnancy, are exceptionally rare and typically require intensive medical attention due to the high-risk nature of multiple births.
