The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a woman suspected of involvement in human trafficking and rescued five minors who were reportedly being prepared for illegal relocation outside Nigeria.
The incident was disclosed on Thursday, the 19th of February, 2026, in a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Sources indicated that the operation was triggered by credible intelligence. Acting on the tip-off, a surveillance team from a divisional unit tracked and intercepted a 45-year-old suspect, Rukayya Lawal of Yarogel, at the Central Motor Park in Katsina around 12:10 pm on the 18th of February.
During the intervention, officers rescued five young persons. “They were identified as Maryam Jamilu, 20; Abdurazak Salisu, 18; Hauwa U. Murtala, 15; Danjuma Sule, 19; and Faiza Rabe, 14. All of them were said to be from the same address,” Makama wrote.

Initial findings from questioning suggested that the suspect allegedly intended to transport the victims from Nigeria to Algeria, where they were to be engaged as domestic workers.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
