KC Luxury Arrives At Lagos Court On Ambulance, Seeks Medical Bail

Businessman and social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, on Friday appeared before the Federal High Court in Lagos in an ambulance as his lawyer sought medical bail to enable him to access specialised treatment.

Kazeem, who was reportedly receiving oxygen inside the ambulance, could not be brought into the courtroom due to his health condition.

A correctional officer informed the court that the defendant was critically ill and had been hospitalised, while a nurse attending to him at the Police Hospital, Falomo, Lagos, Bukki Yahya, confirmed that he was diagnosed with asthma and sepsis.

Yahya told Justice Musa Kakaki that Kazeem was admitted to the hospital on October 7, 2026, but could not be moved into the courtroom because he required oxygen support.

Following the nurse’s testimony, the defendant’s counsel, Emefo Etudo, questioned the decision to bring his client to court in such a condition.

The judge subsequently directed that Kazeem be returned to the hospital.

After the directive, Etudo proceeded with the bail application dated October 16, seeking his client’s release to obtain specialised medical treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

The lawyer told the court that the defence had filed an affidavit of urgency, a 21-paragraph affidavit in support of the application, a written address and relevant exhibits. He added that a response to the prosecution’s counter-affidavit was filed on October 22.

Etudo argued that his client’s health had deteriorated, alleging that the Police Hospital had disclosed a collapse of his lungs.

He further claimed that the facility transferred Kazeem to LUTH because it lacked the equipment required to perform surgery for his condition.

According to the defence counsel, Kazeem was subsequently taken away from LUTH and moved to a correctional centre on October 13 despite his medical condition. He alleged that his condition worsened during the transfer, forcing those accompanying him to return him to the Police Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

However, prosecution counsel, Abu Ibrahim, opposed the application, informing the court that the prosecution had filed an 11-paragraph counter-affidavit sworn to by Ebuka Okwonkwo on October 22.

Ibrahim argued that the defence was attempting to reopen an issue already considered by the court in its October 2 pronouncement concerning Exhibit AK2.

He maintained that the medical evidence presented by the defence was insufficient to justify granting bail, noting that the ailment cited was the same asthma previously considered by the court.

The prosecutor also argued that the defence had not provided medical documentation from LUTH indicating that the hospital could not manage Kazeem’s condition.

He urged the court to dismiss the application, while describing the defendant as a flight risk and asking the judge to impose stringent conditions if bail was granted.

Kazeem is standing trial alongside two other defendants, Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch, over alleged trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine and money laundering.
