Kebbi Intensifies Security After Deadly Border Attacks

The Kebbi State Government has reassured residents of border communities of its commitment to their safety following recent deadly attacks in parts of Arewa Local Government Area.

Deputy Governor Alhaji Abubakar Umar Tafida conveyed the assurance on Friday on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris during condolence visits to families affected by the attacks in Mamuni, Awashaka, Kurin-Naida, Tungar Tsoho, Danmairago, and Makargara, all near the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.

Tafida said the state government was implementing a strengthened security strategy in collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies to prevent further incursions by armed bandits. “The Governor is taking the issue of renewed strategy and commitment very seriously. We are working on stronger collaboration and more vigorous vigilance among all stakeholders in the security sector,” he said.

He added that state and federal authorities were investing in security infrastructure and intensifying operations to pursue bandits in their hideouts. Residents were urged to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence. Tafida also announced monetary assistance for families of the deceased and victims receiving treatment in hospitals.
