The Kebbi State House of Assembly has formally acknowledged the receipt of a serious petition detailing accusations of gross misconduct leveled against the Chairman of Maiyama Local Government, Adamu Aliyu Liba.
The comprehensive petition was submitted by the Maiyama Local Government Progressive Union and was presented during the plenary session on Wednesday, the 26th of November, 2025, by the Speaker, Mohammed Usman Zuru. The document lays out multiple and significant allegations against the council chairman.
Key among the accusations, according to the petitioners, is that Liba allegedly converted an 18-seater Toyota bus belonging to the council for personal use. He is also facing allegations concerning a critical infrastructure project, specifically being accused of failing to complete the electricity supply project from Mai Yama to Andarai despite petitioners’ claims that full payment had been made to the contractor.

Further complaints listed in the petition involve the reported sale of two caterpillar machines and a fill-loader owned by the local government. Additionally, the Chairman is alleged to have carried out the unauthorized sale of almost all plots at the Dadin Kowa Market in collaboration with associates.
Following the reading of the detailed petition, the Speaker promptly referred the case to the House Committee on Public Petitions. The Committee, which is chaired by Chief Whip Muhammad Sani Garba Tiggi, has been directed to thoroughly investigate the allegations and provide a report to the full House by next week for the necessary legislative action.
