Kebbi State authorities have assured residents that the situation is under control following a loud explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo in the early hours of Tuesday.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the command said a joint security team—comprising police, military personnel, and local vigilante groups—quickly secured the scene.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological , and Nuclear) experts were also deployed to assess the area.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. A building in the hospital’s staff quarters sustained damage, but occupants had evacuated prior to the blast.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered increased tactical deployments in the area to safeguard residents and ensure public order. Authorities have also launched a full investigation into the cause of the explosion.
Residents are being urged to remain calm and steer clear of the hospital vicinity to allow security teams to carry out their operations unhindered. Further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
