Sevilla have officially parted ways with Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho after both sides agreed to a mutual contract termination, the Spanish club confirmed on Monday.
Iheanacho, 28, had been tied to the Andalusian outfit until 2026 but found himself out of favor under head coach MatÃas Almeyda, who has leaned on other attacking options this season.
The striker arrived at Sevilla in 2024 after his contract with Leicester City expired, managing 11 appearances and three goals in his short stint.
A loan switch to Middlesbrough in January followed, where he featured 15 times in the Championship, adding a goal and two assists.
Returning to Spain this summer, Iheanacho was left out of Sevilla’s opening three La Liga squads, a clear signal that opportunities would be limited.

Both player and club subsequently agreed to cut ties before the situation dragged further.
The timing of his exit has put Scottish champions Celtic on high alert. The Glasgow giants were already exploring a late swoop before the transfer window shut, but with Iheanacho now a free agent, they can negotiate on their own terms without deadline pressure.
Celtic are eager to bolster their attacking options after an encouraging domestic start but a painful Champions League exit at the hands of Kairat Almaty on penalties.
For Iheanacho, once a highly rated prospect at Manchester City, the move could provide the fresh start he has been seeking after a frustrating spell in Spain.
