Kidnappers release video of abducted Niger travellers, demand N500m ransom

Suspected kidnappers have released a video of some travellers abducted on Sunday in Niger State. 

Bandits had ambushed passengers travelling in a Niger State Transport Authority bus said to be returning from a wedding in Rijau Local Government Area of the state.

The kidnappers have reportedly demanded N500m ransom of N500 before setting the victims frree.

Some of the abducted travellers, including women and children, were seen in a video which went viral on Wednesday pleading with the government to facilitate their release.

The heavily armed kidnappers spoke in Hausa language, threatening to kill the hostages if the government failed to meet their demands.

Niger State Government announced on Tuesday that 10 of the victims had been released.

In another development, a yet-to-be-known number of students of Government Science College (GSC), Kagara, were abducted in the early hours of Wednesday.
