Kunle Afolayan Sets January 30 Release for Anikulapo Season 2

Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has revealed that the second season of his Netflix series Anikulapo will premiere on Thursday, January 30, 2026.

The announcement was made on Sunday, January 4, 2026, via Afolayan’s Instagram account, where he wrote, “ANIKULAPO series Season 2 coming on 30 January on @naijaonnetflix. Are you ready?”

The new season follows the six-episode first instalment, Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, which debuted on Friday, March 1, 2024.

The series has been praised for its blend of Yoruba history and fantasy, earning a strong following on the streaming platform.

Season 2 will feature returning cast members Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Aisha Lawal, Moji Afolayan, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi‑Oke, Taiwo Hassan, and Lateef Adedimeji, while introducing new actors including Bukunmi Adeaga‑Ilori (KieKie), Teniola Aladese, Antar Laniyan, Joke Muyiwa, Saidi Balogun, and Adeoluwa Okusaga (Saga).

Principal photography for the season began on Thursday, August 1, 2025, and wrapped after a 50-day shoot.

Fans can expect the season to expand the story world of Anikulapo, continuing the mix of Nigerian history, folklore, and modern storytelling that made the first season a hit.
