Kwankwaso Storms Villa, Ignores Press

Rabiu Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was at the Presidential Villa on Monday, the 21st of July, 2025, for the 2025 Nigeria Forest Economy Summit.

The event, which took place at the State House Banquet Hall, was hosted by the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI).

Kwankwaso, who also once governed Kano State, made an appearance at the summit but chose not to speak to reporters or give any public remarks.

Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed participants at the summit through Ibrahim Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

He raised concern about Nigeria’s worsening forest loss.

Shettima said, “More than 90 percent of Nigeria’s original forest cover has been depleted, and over 400,000 hectares lost annually,” describing the issue not just as an environmental crisis but as an “economic emergency.”
