The Kwara State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has voiced its displeasure over the continued delay in paying Teachers Specific Allowances (TSA).
According to the union, several meetings have been held with the government, yet the 27.5% and 21% TSA due to teachers remain unsettled.
At a stakeholder meeting held in Ilorin on Tuesday, the 9th of September, 2025, the union’s leadership agreed that rather than immediately declaring an ultimatum or industrial action, teachers in the state would dedicate a day to fasting and prayer, seeking divine intervention on the matter.

The union also noted the government’s approval of financial support for the 2024 TESCOM promotion but stressed that unresolved welfare concerns, particularly the allowances, must come first to keep teachers motivated and productive.
Teachers across Kwara were urged to stay calm and await instructions from the union’s leaders.
