Lagos APC, LGAs Seek Divine Help after Five Women Leaders Die Suddenly

Tension is rising within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the sudden deaths of five women leaders across various local councils in the state.

The most recent loss, Mrs Adebimpe Akinola, who served as the Council Manager of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area, was reported dead on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Her passing marks the fifth in a string of mysterious deaths that have left party members and council staff deeply unsettled.

Across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas, fear has quietly spread among female officials, many of whom are now calling for prayers and divine protection.

The deaths come barely two months after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu swore in newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen following the July 27, 2025, local government elections.

Reacting to the unsettling wave of deaths, APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, described the situation as “painful and shocking,” noting that the party was putting measures in place to understand the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

“We have a plan in place as a party. We’re just waiting for a reasonable mourning period to pass. There is already a committee working on the intervention plan,” Oladejo said.

He also revealed that the party was considering prayer sessions across all councils to seek divine help and protection for its members.

As the deaths continue to cast a shadow over the local government system, the Lagos APC is hoping that both investigation and faith will help restore calm and confidence among its members.
