The Lagos State Government has appointed social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as an ambassador for the state’s Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA) initiative. The appointment, announced on September 30, 2025, is part of a broader government effort to address rising substance abuse among young people in the state.
With a following of over 402,000 across her social media platforms, Mandy Kiss is expected to leverage her online influence to connect with young Nigerians, particularly those aged 15–64, who are most affected by drug-related issues. Statistics show that substance abuse impacts more than 10% of Lagos residents within this demographic, underscoring the urgency of sustained intervention.
Announcing the appointment, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, emphasized the government’s focus on partnering with digital influencers to address the crisis:
“This is not just a health challenge but a societal pandemic. We believe in working with voices that young people listen to, so the message of prevention and rehabilitation can spread wider,” he said.
The move has, however, sparked conversations among the public. While some observers commend the government for strategically engaging influencers who have direct access to the youth, critics have raised concerns about Mandy Kiss’s controversial past content, which included provocative videos and alleged references to drug use.

Officials defended the decision, noting that her story underscores the importance of redirection and the potential of personal transformation. They argue that Mandy Kiss represents the possibility of change, making her a powerful symbol for young people struggling with similar issues.
Her appointment follows the government’s intervention during her recently rejected Guinness World Record attempt, a move that signaled official recognition of her influence and visibility.
The LASKADA campaign aims to provide education, awareness, and rehabilitation opportunities, while also creating platforms for dialogue between government, civil society, and young Nigerians. With Mandy Kiss now in the fold, authorities are hopeful that her influence will help reshape conversations around substance abuse and inspire healthier choices among the youth.
