Lagos family petitions AIG, alleges connivance to hijack its 68 plots of land

A Lagos family under the label, Mike Daley Investment Limited, has raised the alarm in its petition to the police authorities, accusing the family’s confidential secretary and others of betrayal of trust, by illegally acquiring and putting up for sale, 68 plots of land belonging to the family.

In the petition to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID), Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, the family, represented by Prince Shola Fagbohun, has asked the police to stop the trespassers in their tracks.

Specifically, the aggrieved family accused their lawyer and family secretary, Laura Odukoya, in concert with Pastor Matthew Igbasan, of allegedly presenting fake documents to the Lagos State Government, to obtain by deceit, a Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) for the 68 plots of land.

In the petition dated October 25, 2021, the family said it got wind of it on good records that Chief Micheal Akin Osiyemi, the Chairman of Mike Daley Investment Limited, the rightful owner of the landed properties at Odogbo/Opebi Community, off Osho Street, Opebi Ikeja, was about being edged out by usurpers.

The family stated, “Our attention has been drawn to the serial act of criminal conspiracy on the subversion of justice, unprofessional gross misconducts, and impersonation by Laura Odukoya & Co. as legal representative, deceit, complicity, intimidation, duress, high handedness, criminal trespass, threatening violence, land fraud/grabbing, abuse of privilege/position as confidential family secretary and stealing of vital information to process fictitious Lagos State Government Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) land title, thereto.

“Under suspicious circumstances by Pastor Folarin Mathew Igbasan, Laura Odukoya and others, in respect of the entire 68 plots of land belonging to, registered and marked as Mike Daley Investment Limited landed property situate and lying at Odogbo Opebi Community, off Osho Street, Opebi, Ikeja,
we aghast to know that Pastor Mathew Igbasan clandestinely used his position as Opebi Family Errand / Confidential Sectary who by virtue of his position has access to vital family information, particularly land processing and writing of letters and other secretarial duties, wherein he intentionally circumvented and conspired with some highly placed political bigwigs in Lagos State to issue fake title documents as a means to fraudulently use them and gain unfettered access to obtaining Certificate of Occupancy.”

It further accused the persons of using Lagos State Task Force and other unlawful means to bully and intimidate the rightful owner family of the lands.

On the antecedent of the land, Mike Daley Investment stated that it was actually forcefully dispossessed of the plots of land by “the culprit who took advantage of his closeness to the Opebi Egba Refugees Family”, noting that adjoining joint owners are: Amore and Osu Families, that sold the plots of land to Mike Daley Investment Limited.

The claimant thus appealed to the AIG to use his good offices to bring about justice.

Meanwhile, responses are, however, due from Laura Odukoya and Pastor Matthew Igbasan who are cited in the land-grabbing and intimidation accusations.
