Lagos Gov Marks Blue Line’s Second Anniversary, Slashes Fares by 50%

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, disclosing that the system has moved over five million passengers since its commissioning.

To mark the milestone, the governor announced a 50 per cent reduction in fares, aimed at easing transportation costs for commuters across the state.

Sanwo-Olu, in a post on his official X handle, stated that the rail service had operated without a single accident since it began operations.

“In these two years, the Blue Line has carried more than five million passengers safely, without a single accident.

“Trains now run every 10 minutes, making over 90 trips each day. Journeys that once took much longer have become faster and easier.

“These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people.
