A major traffic jam brought movement to a standstill on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday, leaving motorists stranded for hours as congestion spread across both inbound and outbound lanes.
The gridlock extended from the Alausa Expressway to the Fatgbems/OPIC roundabout for drivers heading toward Mowe, while those travelling into Lagos were trapped from Long Bridge to the same roundabout.
Authorities traced the heavy congestion to a crash at the New Garage area, where two vehicles caught fire and were completely burnt to ashes, causing a significant obstruction and worsening an already tense traffic situation.
