The Lagos State Command and Control Centre has launched a state-wide sensitisation campaign to educate residents on the proper use of its emergency toll-free numbers, 767 and 112.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, November 5 2025, in Lagos, the General Manager of the centre, Mr Kennedy Giwa, said the initiative forms part of the government’s renewed commitment to improving public safety and strengthening emergency response systems ahead of the busy Ember months.
Giwa explained that the campaign became necessary as the state prepares for the usual surge in emergencies during the festive “Dirty December” period.
He noted that misuse of the hotlines, including prank calls and non-urgent reports, continues to disrupt real-time response to genuine emergencies.
“The numbers 767 and 112 are lifelines for Lagosians. They are toll-free, available 24 hours a day, and directly connected to trained operators who can dispatch rescue or security teams swiftly,” he said.
“Every prank call delays help to someone who truly needs it.”

The sensitisation drive will run through local governments and community development areas, featuring public engagements, billboards, radio messages, and roadshows.
According to Giwa, the campaign will also partner with transport unions, market associations, and youth groups to deepen grassroots awareness.
Officials said the effort aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader push to enhance emergency management capacity and ensure quicker response times across the state.
As Lagos enters its festive peak, the government urged residents to remain safety-conscious, report genuine emergencies promptly, and avoid any misuse of the state’s vital hotlines.
