The Lagos State Government has sealed the Ladipo Spare Parts Market in Mushin following repeated breaches of environmental and sanitation regulations, in a move to enforce compliance and restore public health standards.
Authorities closed the market on Sunday, February 8, 2026, citing persistent indiscriminate waste disposal, blocked drainage channels, illegal street trading, and failure to meet basic hygiene requirements.
Officials said the enforcement followed several warnings to market leaders and traders, which did not result in compliance.
The closure is part of Lagos’ ongoing zero-tolerance policy against environmental violations.

The government emphasized that the market will remain closed until traders meet stipulated sanitation and waste-management standards and authorities confirm full compliance.

Ladipo Market, one of Nigeria’s largest auto spare parts hubs, has faced similar shutdowns in the past.
