The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has taken action against two properties in Ikoyi, Lagos, over environmental violations.
The properties were shut down for blocking official duties and for illegally discharging raw sewage into public drainage channels.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this known through a post on his official X account on the 30th of June, 2025.
He said one of the sealed buildings, located at No. 2 Kebbi Street, Osborne Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Eti-Osa, was caught releasing untreated sewage directly into public drains.
“This act constitutes a public nuisance, contributes to environmental pollution, and poses a direct threat to human lives,” Wahab stated.

He added that another spot, close to the Mambilla Estate Gate in the same estate, was sealed for denying the agency’s officials access, even after being served several inspection notices.
Wahab said this violated the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
He called on Lagos residents to maintain safe sanitation habits and dispose of wastewater properly.
“Any conduct that results in environmental degradation or poses a danger to public health will attract strict penalties, including possible prosecution,” Wahab warned.
