Students have taken to the roads in the Berger area of Lagos State to protest the killing of no less than 15 schoolchildren by a delivery truck.
The truck, allegedly running from the Lagos State Traffic Management officials, reportedly lost control and rammed into the schoolchildren in desperation to evade arrest.
The pupils, said to be students of Ojodu Grammar School, Ojodu, Berger, had just closed school and were leaving the school premises when the incident occurred.
Eyewitness report said that the truck driver ran away but was caught at Ogba very close to Excellence hotel, where the truck was set afire by irate commuters.
One of the students who saw what happened said the schoolchildren were crushed.
“The accident happened immediately after the school opened their school gate after the close of school. I am not sure about the number, as of when I left, they said 17 children were confirmed dead,” the student said.
