Mr Collins Onwuzulike, owner of Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, has officially regained possession of the property housing the popular Cubana Lounge following a court-ordered eviction executed on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
The enforcement team, led by court bailiffs and supported by police officers, arrived at the lounge around 8 a.m. to carry out the eviction.
The operation faced resistance from individuals reportedly hired to block the takeover after some police personnel withdrew, but the bailiffs pressed on.
They supervised the dismantling and removal of the lounge’s assets, including industrial generators and air conditioners, while some staff looked on.
A notice confirming the enforcement was displayed prominently on the building.
The dispute over the property dates back several years. The plot was previously leased to Cubana Lounge Ltd under a tenancy agreement that had long since expired.
Tensions rose in early 2025 when a notice was issued claiming unpaid rent and demanding the lounge vacate the premises.
Other parties involved in the property contested the notice, arguing that the lounge’s tenancy remained valid and that ownership and rights to the property were under dispute.

The matter was eventually settled in court. In July 2025, the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gwagwalada, confirmed that Onwuzulike, through his company SEMC Investment Ltd, was the lawful owner of the property.
The court noted that he had purchased the building from the previous owner for N2 billion, with the transfer of ownership formalised through a valid Power of Attorney and Deed of Assignment effective from May 1, 2024.
Justice J.A. Aina granted Onwuzulike immediate right of possession and directed security agencies to assist in enforcing the order.
Enforcement had been delayed previously due to legal manoeuvres, including a temporary restraining order, but all legal obstacles had lapsed by Tuesday, allowing the eviction to proceed.
The keys to the property were handed over to Onwuzulike’s lawyer, marking the official transfer of control and bringing an end to the prolonged dispute over the building.
