The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has reported that integrating smart technologies like drones, TMC cameras, and GPS-equipped patrol vehicles has improved road safety across Lagos State.
The Adebayo Taofiq shared this in a statement on Sunday, the 1st of March, 2026.
Taofiq explained that these technological tools have enhanced emergency intervention and rescue operations, helping to save lives during road accidents.
Citing the agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, Taofiq noted that there were operational challenges before the deployment of these systems.
Bakare-Oki said: “With these advanced monitoring capabilities, traffic incidents are now detected instantaneously, verified via digital feeds, and communicated promptly to the nearest patrol or rescue unit.
“This streamlined operational synergy has drastically reduced response intervals while optimising field deployment strategies. Our commitment to technological modernisation is anchored on the imperative to safeguard human life.
“Every minute saved in emergency response is invaluable. The deployment of intelligent systems has empowered our operatives to respond with unprecedented speed, precision, and professional dexterity.”
