The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) enforcement team, in an early morning operation on Tuesday, apprehended five individuals for indiscriminate waste dumping along the median of Ago Palace Way in the Okota area of Lagos.
The arrest was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Wahab, the offenders were caught in the act and have been promptly taken to the Mobile Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi, for prosecution.
The arrested individuals are:
Sunday Chidiebere (20 years)
Favour Odoh (20 years)
Daniel Okunola (20 years)
Michael Obi (28 years)
Amaka Abel (28 years)

Wahab reaffirmed the state government’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental infractions, warning that violators of sanitation laws would face the full weight of the law.
“This should serve as a deterrent. Lagos must be clean, and we will not allow acts that undermine public health and environmental standards,” the commissioner stated.
The move underscores the state’s renewed commitment to environmental sustainability and the ongoing campaign to curb indiscriminate refuse disposal across Lagos.
