Middle Belt Forum, on Thursday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately set up an independent judicial panel of enquiry to unravel circumstances surrounding the killing of protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos and other parts of the country.
The MBF also demanded that perpetrators be brought to book.
The Forum also pleaded with the President to make public the outcome of the investigation and ensure that those found guilty are punished so as to serve as deterrent to others.
MBF President, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, who made the recommendations in a statement issued in Abuja, also asked the Federal Government to compensate families of victims who lost their lives during the peaceful protests.
“We appeal to President Buhari to immediately set up an independent judicial panel of enquiry to unearth circumstances under which these killings were perpetrated with the intention of bringing to book all those responsible for these unprovoked murder,” he said.
