LG election: OYSIEC accepts national ID others in lieu of PVC

SOJI AJIBOLA, IBADAN

Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission has said that it would accept another nationally recognized identification document in lieu of a Permanent Voters Card in the forthcoming local government election.

The OYSIEC chairman, Mr. Isiaka Olagunju dropped the hint in a telephone interview on Tuesday in Ibadan.

According to him, voters who don’t have Permanent Voters Cards can use either a National ID card, International Passport, Driver’s License, or Temporary Voters Card.

Mr Olagunju said what was imperative was for a person’s name on any of the identification documents to match the name on the Voters Register, which he said will be displayed across the 33 local government election areas from next week.

He added that he had instructed security agencies that those whose names are not on the voters register and present at the polling centres be arrested.
