Chelsea Football Club has announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as its new head coach on January 6, 2026, following the departure of Enzo Maresca at the start of the year.
Rosenior, 41, has signed a long‑term contract until 2032 and arrives from French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he led the club to European qualification.
Maresca’s tenure ended on January 1, 2026, when Chelsea and the Italian coach parted ways after 18 months in charge amid a poor run of results and reported tensions with the club hierarchy.
Rosenior becomes the fourth full‑time head coach since Chelsea’s current ownership era began in 2022.

His first match in charge is expected to be Chelsea’s FA Cup third‑round tie on January 10, 2026.
The appointment comes as Chelsea sit fifth in the Premier League and compete across multiple competitions, with supporters and officials hoping Rosenior will steady the club’s season after a turbulent opening to 2026.
