Life Abroad Is Tough – Tacha Exposes Nigerians’ Struggles in UK

Reality TV personality and influencer, Tacha Akide, has stirred fresh reactions online after offering a candid take on the financial struggles faced by Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

Speaking in a recent video from her current base in the UK, the former BBNaija contestant challenged the widely held belief that Nigerians abroad enjoy greater financial comfort.

According to Tacha, many Nigerians in the UK are struggling to make ends meet, and in some cases, living under harsher conditions than those back home in Nigeria due to the country’s steep cost of living.

She argued that a growing number of Nigerians in Nigeria now appear to live more comfortably than their counterparts overseas, especially with the economic pressure in the UK.

“You see those of you always having inferiority complex in Nigeria, thinking everyone here is rich, most people here are broke. The most broke people I have met are actually the people I met in the UK. Everyone is holding themselves. It is expensive.”

She didn’t stop there. Tacha urged anyone considering relocation to think carefully before assuming it’s an easy path to success.

“Trust me when I tell you that the living situation here is not rosy. In fact, most people in Nigeria are living better off than people actually living here. So if you want to move, go ahead, but not with the mentality of ‘oh, it’s all rosy.’ You see yourself spending 300k on a freaking taxi in a freaking day, 1 million on a car in a week unless you want to use the train. Think about your decision,” she said.
