Liverpool Man Charged for Racial Abuse of Bournemouth Star Semenyo

A 47-year-old man from Liverpool has been charged with racially abusing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during a Premier League match at Anfield on August 15.

According to BBC Sport, the incident occurred in the 29th minute after Semenyo alerted match officials to the abuse, prompting a temporary halt to the game. Players, coaching staff, referees, and police gathered on the touchline as the matter was addressed.

Merseyside Police identified the suspect as Mark Mogan of Templehill Close, Dovecot. He has been charged with a racially aggravated Section 5 public order offence. Mogan has been granted conditional bail and is expected to appear before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on December 22.

Police said the man was traced and removed from the stadium shortly after the report was made.

The match resumed afterwards, with Liverpool securing a 4–2 win in their opening fixture of the season.

It was previously reported that a man arrested in connection with the incident had been issued a ban from every football stadium in the United Kingdom.
