LP Factional Chairman Abure Meets Wike in Abuja

Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, held a closed-door meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday, July 13, amid fresh tensions within the party.

The meeting took place at Wike’s private residence in Abuja and comes at a time when the Labour Party is facing renewed internal crisis, particularly involving its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

While details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the timing has raised eyebrows. It follows a recent call by the Abure-led faction for Obi to step down from the party, accusing him of aligning with a coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress.

The move has deepened divisions within the party, with observers questioning Abure’s motives and the implications of his meeting with Wike, a prominent figure in the ruling political landscape.
