Mabel Segun, Trailblazing Nigerian Writer, Broadcaster, Dies at 95

Mabel Segun, a renowned Nigerian novelist, writer, sports woman, broadcaster, and diplomat, has passed away at the age of 95.

Her family announced her death in a statement late Thursday, confirming she died in the early hours of that day. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time.

In their statement, the family expressed, “It is with gratitude to God for a life well spent in the pursuit of excellence in Literature, Broadcasting and Sports that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mabel Dorothy Okanima Segun (nee Aig-Imoukhuede).”

Segun, a retired administrator, leaves behind a legacy of significant contributions to Nigerian society.
