Makinde lunches manhunt for herdsman, Wakili terrorising Ibarapa

Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has deployed men of Amotekun security outfit to track down a suspected criminal herdsman, Iga Wakili, who allegedly has been terrorizing Ibarapa area of the state.

This was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Taiwo Adisa, at a virtual town hall meeting with the International Alliance for Justice and Peace, a Diaspora-based civil society organisation with interest in Nigeria.

Adisa, who spoke on the topic, “Fulani Herdsmen’s Violent Rampage In Ibarapa: What Is the True Situation?”, said the governor had deployed over 200 operatives of Amotekun to confront the herdsman and his men.

Recall that residents and farmers in Ayete in Ibarapa, had raised an alarm over the terror they suffer in the hands of Wakili.

Waikiki is accused of taking several acres of lands belonging to the farmers and renaming them with his name- Iga Wakili.

The governor’s CPS while speaking on the governor’s effort to deal with the situation, said the notorious herder had already fled his ‘territory’ known as ‘Iga Wakili’ in the Ayete area of Ibarapaland.

His words “As to whether Seriki Igangan and Iskilu will be invited for questioning, yes, why not? Because investigation is ongoing and some people have been invited and when any of them is mentioned as having contributed to the kidnap or killing of one person or the other, security operatives have to go after any of them that is involved and they will be dealt with.

“Amotekun Corps is already deployed to face anybody whether it is Wakili or Seriki that wants to misbehave. They are not in the barrack, they have been deployed on the roads, at the black spots in Ibarapaland and Oke-Ogun axes. Operations are ongoing as to know how to tackle, whether it is Wakili or any other criminal around that axis.”
