Makinde Urges Nigerians To Collect PVCs Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the call in a video shared on his social media accounts on Tuesday, where he displayed his PVC and encouraged citizens to obtain theirs ahead of the polls.

The governor said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had confirmed that PVC collection would commence on October 9, 2026.

“INEC has confirmed that Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) collection commences on 9 October 2026. Please get your PVC so that you can participate in the 2027 election,” Makinde said.

In the video, the governor described the PVC as an important tool through which Nigerians could participate in choosing their leaders.

“Fellow Nigerians, INEC has set December 12th as the date for people to start collecting their Permanent Voter Card. This is your power. Irrespective of who you want to vote for, let’s go out, collect your PVC, and you will use it wisely,” he said.

Makinde urged Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process regardless of their preferred candidates.

The governor is seeking the presidency in the 2027 election on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), having emerged as the party’s presidential candidate in May 2026.

His campaign organisation on Tuesday inaugurated its National Campaign Management Committee in Abuja as the party begins preparations for the presidential contest.

The campaign has reportedly set a target of between 41 million and 68 million votes in the 2027 election.

Makinde, who was first elected governor of Oyo State in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, is seeking to succeed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2027 presidential election.
