Police in Ogun State have arrested a 32-year-old man for unlawfully having carnal knowledge of a teenager (names withheld) in the Adubi area of the state.
The suspect, one Gbenga Kolawole, was reported to the police by the victim’s mother for raping her 16-year-old daughter at a bar shop.
The mother said the suspect succeeded in having sex with her after she got drunk during an annual church anniversary held on November, 6, 2023.
She explained further that the suspect took advantage of her daughter’s drunkenness, lured her to the bar shop and eventually had carnal knowledge of her.
The victim’s mother said he was caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim, who informed about the development before she reported to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola who confirmed thus to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday, said that the victim had been taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and treatment.
She noted that the suspect had also been arrested for Preliminary investigation.
“Following a report from an aggrieved mother that her 16 years old daughter who got drunk during an annual Church year anniversary celebration on the 6th of November 2023 in Adubi Ogun State, and was taken by her to a nearby bar shop and locked there, became victim to one Gbenga Kolawole “m” 32yrs who had unlawful carnal knowledge of the drunk girl. He was however caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim “m” of same address.” the Police PRO added.
