A man named Chinaza Abazienu was given a 21-year prison term on Wednesday by an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offenses Court over indecent treatment of a 10-year-old child and attempting to rape her.
Mr. Abazienu was sentenced by Justice Abiola Soladoye after entering a plea to a two-count charge of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child.
The offender received a 14-year sentence for attempting a sexual attack by penetration and a seven-year sentence for indecently treating a kid from Mrs. Soladoye.
She further stated that the sentences should be served in order.
Abimbola Abolade, the state’s counsel, had previously told the court of a plea bargain request from the defense dated June 20 that suggested a 21-year prison sentence.
Donatus Egbe, the defense counsel, verified that the defendant had accepted the plea agreement.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the crimes on August 3, in Surulere, Lagos, on Yusuf Sanusi Street, off Adeniran Ogunsanya.
According to the prosecution, the crime violates sections 135 and 262 of the 2015 Lagos State Criminal Laws.
