A 65-year-old woman, Josephine Azegba, has been killed by her son during a heated dispute over a family land in Umuogbulor community, Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday at about 2:20 p.m., was reported by the deceased’s daughter, Charity Azegba.
According to intelligence sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, the suspect, identified as Abuchi Joseph, allegedly struck his mother on the head with an iron hoe during an argument related to the sale of family land.
The brutal attack caused severe injuries leading to her immediate death.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene and is currently at large.
It was learnt that police had launched a manhunt to track down and arrest him.
The victim’s body has been evacuated to the Ogrute General Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while investigations continue.
