Many govs won elections only through courts – Methodist Prelate.

.Extols virtues of late Bode Akindele

Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Samuel Uche, on Friday lambasted many state governors in the country, saying they only got to their offices through the decisions of the courts rather than the votes of the electorate.

He said many of the state governors were merely declared winners by the judiciary, a development he said shouldn’t have arisen.

Uche said this during his sermon at the funeral of the late Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Bode Akindele, held at the Methodist Cathedral, Agbeni, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akindele died on June 29 at the age of 87.

The Methodist Prelate said, “Electoral victories are given to some undeserving candidates through the courts of law.

“There is one political party here in Nigeria, even when you don’t win an election, the party would give you victory through the Supreme Court.

“Many governors are Supreme Court governors, they didn’t win (election) and are not supposed to be there. This is lawlessness and that is why I call some of our courts, court of lawlessness.”

The cleric enjoined people to emulate the late Akindele’s love for God and humanity, qualities which he said stood him out.

Uche described the deceased as a great philanthropist and businessman who touched many lives positively.

He also lamented the worsening insecurity and massive looting of the nation’s treasury, which he said were retarding the development of the nation.
