The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has confirmed that the party will challenge a Federal High Court judgment which stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising its state congresses, even as he insisted the party remains confident of contesting all elections in 2027.
The ruling, delivered by the Federal High Court, effectively prevents INEC from acknowledging congresses organised by committees constituted by the Mark-led National Working Committee, deepening uncertainty over the party’s internal structure and preparedness for the next general elections.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday night after receiving a briefing from the party’s legal team, the former Senate President sought to reassure members, declaring that the ADC would overcome its current legal hurdles.
“You do not have anything to be afraid of regarding all the litigations before the party.
“I want to assure you that we shall triumph in all the cases, and we shall be on the ballot for every election.”

He confirmed that the party has already initiated an appeal and filed an application for stay of execution to halt the effect of the ruling.
“We are more than prepared and ready for these cases, and we shall do everything within the ambit of the law to surmount every situation,” Mark added.
As the party continues its build-up towards the 2027 general elections, Mark reiterated his confidence in its legal strategy and electoral prospects.
“In this legal battle, though I am not a lawyer, I will lead from the front, and we shall surely triumph,” he said.
Earlier, ADC legal representatives had briefed the party leadership on the implications of the court decision and outlined the strategy going forward in response to the case.
