Yoruba group, under the aegis of Ilana Omo Oodua, took their secession agitation rally to Ondo State on Saturday with masquerades and market women joining them.
Members of the Ilana Omo Oodua, agitating for Yoruba Nation,
converged at lsinkan Roundabout from where they took their march to other parts of the state capital.
Their activities caused a heavy traffic gridlock. Many youths, including Okada riders participated in the rally.
The protesters were guided by security agencies to ensure the rally was not hijacked by miscreants.
Speaking, the spokesman for the group, Maxwell Adeleye promised that the group would not be violent.
“We shall peacefully, logically and intellectually achieve our independence without violence, bloodshed,” he told journalists.
He said that the rally would relentlessly and vociferously demand the Oduduwa Republic.
Also speaking to newsmen, the Ondo Police Command spokesman, Tee-Leo Ikoro assured that security operatives would not allow miscreants to use the rally to cause havoc like was the case of the #ENDSARS protest.
