Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has announced the arrival of her second child with her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa.
In an Instagram post on Friday, August 15, Chinwo expressed gratitude to God, describing the baby as “a precious gift” that has added joy and multiplied laughter in their family. She praised her husband as “an amazing father of two” and said the Lord had been good to them.
The announcement comes just two days after the couple marked their third wedding anniversary. Chinwo married Uzochikwa, the lead pastor of The Waterbrook Church in Lagos, in August 2022 in a well-publicised ceremony attended by notable figures in the gospel music and Christian community.

The couple welcomed their first child in 2023, though the birth attracted online controversy after some social media users insinuated that the child resembled fellow gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey, sparking unfounded paternity rumours. Both Chinwo and Bassey condemned the speculation, with Bassey petitioning the police against those spreading the claims, describing them as defamatory and malicious.
Alongside the baby announcement, Chinwo reminded fans that the audio of her new single Onyeoma is available on all platforms, with the official video scheduled to premiere on YouTube at noon today.
