Mexico continued their impressive FIFA World Cup campaign with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ecuador on Wednesday morning (Nigerian time), extending their flawless run in the tournament.
Julián Quiñones gave the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute with a composed finish before Raúl Jiménez doubled Mexico’s advantage in the 31st minute to seal another convincing victory.
The result marked Mexico’s fourth consecutive win at the tournament, with El Tri scoring eight goals while yet to concede a single goal.

The clean sheet also saw Mexico become the first nation since Italy at the 1990 FIFA World Cup to open a World Cup campaign with four straight victories without conceding, achieving a historic feat.

Quiñones was named Man of the Match after producing another outstanding performance, capping a memorable outing with the opening goal that set Mexico on course for victory.
