Nigerian military aircraft operating under Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed several terrorist structures and logistics hubs and neutralised approximately 18 terrorists during an air interdiction operation in Tumbunma Baba, in the Tumbuns general area of Borno State.
The operation was conducted at about 6:05 a.m. on Friday, following intelligence indicating that a high-profile meeting of terrorist elements was taking place on the islands.
According to military sources, the air operation followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted on September 9, which identified several terrorist structures and logistics facilities in the area.
It was reported that the strike destroyed several structures and logistics hubs believed to be supporting terrorist activities in the enclave.
The strikes also reportedly killed approximately 18 terrorists operating from the area.

Military sources assessed the operation as having achieved an estimated 85 per cent success rate, with further air interdiction recommended to consolidate the gains and disrupt any surviving terrorist elements.
The latest strikes form part of sustained military operations aimed at degrading terrorist networks in the North-East, destroying their logistics infrastructure and denying them the ability to coordinate, mobilise and move freely across the Tumbuns.
The operation also underscores the growing reliance on intelligence-led air operations to identify and strike terrorist concentrations and their support infrastructure in difficult-to-access areas of the theatre.
Further operations are expected as the military moves to exploit the gains from the latest airstrikes and prevent surviving terrorist elements from regrouping or rebuilding their logistics network.
