Military Pensions Board Warns Against Fake WhatsApp Group

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has distanced itself from a WhatsApp group operating under its name, describing it as fake and misleading.

This was announced in Abuja on Monday, the 8th of September, 2025, through a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Mohammed.

According to him, the platform, which bears the name “Military Pensions Board, MPB,” was set up by unknown persons and has no connection to the Board.

He stressed that the MPB has never created any WhatsApp forum for pensioners or retired service members, adding that those behind the circulation of such groups were “fraudulent elements.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, the MPB communicates with pensioners and stakeholders strictly through its official social media handles, press releases, official statements and recognized communication channels,” Mohammed said.

He reassured pensioners that the Board remains committed to their welfare and encouraged them to always confirm information through official contacts before acting on it.
