Miracle Rescue: Newborn Found Abandoned In Anambra Shop

A newborn baby was rescued alive on Sunday morning after being abandoned in a bag outside a shop along Pope John Paul Seminary School Street, Umuodu Village, Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The infant was discovered at around 9 a.m. by a nurse, identified as Mercy Iloanya, who noticed the baby crying from the bag while attending to her nearby shop. Iloanya immediately alerted a man passing by, who confirmed that the baby was alive, before notifying the owner of the shop in front of which the child had been left.

Upon opening the bag, the shop owner and bystanders found a note from the mother appealing for someone to take care of the newborn. Eyewitnesses, described as mostly women, contributed baby items to assist the child, expressing shock and concern over the circumstances of the abandonment.
